After following the steps provided below you will have a scale drawing of your kitchen, giving you a better idea of the space you are woking with. * Remember - Precise measurements are crucial for getting a tight, clean design and really putting your kitchen over the top!

1. Print out our Layout Grid. (link provided at bottom of page)

2. Make sure all construction of walls is complete and that plumbing and electrical have been stubbed out in new construction.

3. Start by finding a starting point in the room in any corner. Measuring from left to right measure all walls from corner to corner, making notes on the layout grid .

4. Again, measuring from left to right, find all door trim, window trim, and plumbing marking them on the layout grid.

5. Measure all ceiling heights, as well, noting any furrdowns or ceiling height changes.

6. Now, the choice is yours! You can go through the product pages and find the cabinets you need for the space you have or you can fax or scan and email us your layout page and we will design a kitchen for you.

* Tips For Designing:

Wall cabinets are generally 12" deep. There are many heights to choose from when ordering wall cabinets. Staggering wall cabinet heights can add a dramatic design element to any room, when done properly. Choose your wall heights carefully, making the best use of the space you have.

Base cabinets are generally 24" deep.

Cabinets come in three inch increments in width. The smallest cabinets measure 6" wide and the go up from there.

Remember to note all trim and toekick. These items are regularly overlooked when placing orders.

A good rule of thumb when ordering trim, especially for novice trim carpenter, is allow for ten percent waste. This simply means you allow yourself enough to make up for cutting the angles you need and even the occasional mistake.

Make sure you are ordering all you need by checking and double checking your order. We even triple check our orders to ensure we have no down time on our jobs waiting on missed items.

We hope these guidelines will help you enjoy your experience with Cabinet Headquarters and look forward to hearing from you!
